Teila's Birthday Card

Well, it's late, but better late than never I guess! I had great ideas for this card, but when it came to put it all together, I kind of think it fell short of what I pictured for it in my mind. Like I always say though, I'm not a cardmaker, and I don't ever claim to be! lol

I used bazzil dotted swiss cardstock, and stamped a hero arts background stamp with distress inks and embossed it with distress embossing powder. I used quickutz flowers and "celebrate".

I hope you had a great birthday Teila! Enjoy the card!

Happy Birthday Teila!!

Well, January seems to be a pretty busy month for birthdays! Mine was a week ago, our middle son Caleb's was yesterday, and one of our talented DT members is today! You know what that means?!? Yup! Another Birthday Blog Hop!! And like usual, I didn't get my poop in a group in time to get Teila's card finished on time. Caleb has been sick with tonsilitis with a fever of 105 and he won't let me leave his sight, and it was his birthday yesterday and we had the whole family over for a party for him. I totally thought I'd have time to make her card last night, but the last guests didn't leave until almost 10, then we had to get the kids to bed, and by that time I was not feeling so creative!! lol

So I'll just have to say, Happy Birthday Teila!!! You're a great mom, a kick ass cook and a very creative chicka!! I hope you have an amazing day, and I'll try to post your card tomorrow!!
Now, hop on over to the ever so talented Cheri's Blog. And don't forget to go to Teila's Blog and wish her a happy birthday!!

Creative Scrappers Sketch 137

Well, I have to start off by telling you all that as I write this it is officially the end of "day 3" of Weight Watchers and I'm pretty stoked because I've been stuck on "day 1" for a loooooong time! lol My best friend and I always joke around about "day 1" because it's always tomorrow (meaning: better stuff your face full of junk today because day 1 starts tomorrow!"). So, like I said, I'm pretty excited to be at the end of day 3 and still going strong!

My favourite LSS Creative Accents, gave me a stamp from Hero Arts to do something with (the perks of being on the DT!), and ever since I got it, I had the idea to stamp it on cork and emboss it, which was what I did on this layout. Then I saw sketch 137 over at Creative Scrappers and I knew that I wanted to use that stamp to create this page! So here's the sketch:

and here's my take on it:

Products used: (unknown patterned paper) smooch spray, quickutz adhesive cork, distress inks in stormy sky, clear embossing powder, hero arts stamp, random cool buttons, tim holtz die cut and stamp, close to my heart brads, white acrylic paint.

Thanks for taking a look! Have a good night!

December Daily (missing day 3)

I saw the idea for doing a December Daily album in my Scrapbooks etc. mag. I really loved the idea of taking at least one pic a day, and journaling every day to record the events in your life counting down to Christmas. I just thought it would be really cool to look at these albums each year and reminisce about previous holidays.
So I decided to tackle this project in November, the idea being that I get it all done ahead of time and that way I can just take the pics and do the journaling each day. Well, that worked about as well as project of mine that I want to get finished on time! lol So, without further adieu I will present you with my first 11 days of my December Daily album! lol (as you may have gathered, I still haven't finished it!) I haven't done the journaling for them yet (I just journaled on my laptop every day, and then once I'm finished the album I'll write them on the pages).

I'm not going to go into too much detail on the pages in this album except that my Vagabond ROCKS!! haha, but if you have any questions about any of them, just email me or leave a comment!

By the way, in case you've never tried to take a picture every single day for a month...It's not as easy as you might think!! I realized after taking on this project that I sucked at it! lol

Happy New Year's (Resolutions?!)

Well, it's a new year, and with it there is ALWAYS resolutions, and however lame it might seem (because it seems to be the same every year), mine is *still* weight loss. I came across this blog that has totally inspired me though, and I have found a way to keep myself accountable. Her name is Cathy Zielske and her slogan is "Move More, Eat Less". I think that is a very simple way to look at it, but it's really all we ever need to do to be healthy (as long as we're eating healthy foods mostly too). She started her weight loss journey last year and documented the whole thing in a scrapbook!! I love the idea of creating a monthly scrapbook page with all the details of your progress. It is definately a way to hold me accountable because I won't want to scrapbook (and blog) a layout in which I haven't lost weight! So, I think I've got that resolution covered.

My other resolution is to be more organized. I am always quite chaotic because my organizational skills are severely lacking. I resolve to organize my time better so that I have more time to play with my kids without my house becoming a giant disaster too...I have to find a way to get it all done in the day...anyone know of a way to add a few extra hours to the day?!

I think that loosing weight will actually help me with my other goal as well, because I'll have more energy to devote to my kids and my house as long as I first devote some time to myself!

There are always more things I'd like to resolve to do, but it's been my experience that if you try to do too many things at once, nothing gets done at all! So, for now, those are my goals.

Happy New Year's! I hope it's full of blessings for everyone!
