Tim Holtz: 12 tags-April

*****SECOND POST FOR TODAY*****
Scroll down to see the new Graphicat sketch!!

Holy down to the wire Batman!!! Talk about just in time or what?! I wanted soooo badly to finish this one for April that I actually JUST finished it! It's pretty rare to find me crafting during the day, but like the true hardcore that I am, I have been shirking all household responsibilities to get this tag done!

You can check out Tim's amazing tag HERE.

I've been thinking about what I wanted to make with this month's technique because I don't have the bird/branch die. I thought this cute little dress form would be fun though. I distressed the top and bottom with Walnut Stain, then poured on some Vintage Photo distress embossing powder to emboss. I just love how the distress powder has those fun little release crystals for that fabulous shabby look :)

I put a cute little lace skirt on my "girl" and gave her a washi tape belt, with a stick pin for a little fun ;)
I had some left over stamped Kraft Glassine from my card that I made yesterday, so I die cut it into a fun banner and stamped my sentiment on some Kraft paper and roughed it up a bit before sticking it to the Glassine. I thought the film strip ribbon would finish it off nicely...hmmm...I think I was right!! lol

I think this is my favourite tag that I've made so far...I'm pretty stinkin' happy with it! Hope ya like it Tim!

Well I'm off to go clean the house...It's a bit of a mess with all the crafting going on here! But it was totally worth it!

Happy Crafting Everyone!!

Girls Can't What?

Good Morning Bloggers!! It's time for another fab sketch from Graphicat Sketches!! I really loved working with this one!

I used a Tickled Pink Stamp for my image. Graphicat Designs still carries some of the Tickled Pink line, but they're going all digi, so if you like Tickled Pink Stamps and like them in rubber, get em while you can!!

I'm kinda loving the way she looks just stamped without colour!

As a true believer in Women's Lib, I just LOVE this Graphicat senti, and I thought it went perfectly with this tough lookin steampunk chicky! I wanted to use tissue tape for the strips, so I covered a scrap piece of paper with tissue tape, then cut it to the size I wanted. Gotta love tissue tape ;)

The background paper with the gears on it is Kraft Glassine paper that I stamped with my fav Hero Arts stamp. Glassine paper is so cool! You can stamp on it with archival ink, then heat it with a heat gun and it embeds into the paper! How cool is that?!

So there you have it! Link up your creation over at Graphicat Sketches and you'll be in the running to win 5 digis of your choice!!

I'm entering this card into the following challenges: Scrap Creations: It's a girl thing
Corrosive Challenges: Use Tim Holtz products: I used Kraft Glassine, those little button thingies (can't remember what they're called, tissue tape, a stamp, distress ink and the flourish die (I think that's it! lol)

Fabulous Friday!

Hello all! It's time for another Fabulous Friday Challenge over at Frosted Designs, and this week's challenge is ROLLED PAPER, any way, any how!!

I chose to make a cute little banner from strips of rolled paper. I'm kinda lovin it! These pictures were taken a few days ago. They're of my son Kieran who is currently obsessed with the swing aka "ween" and when he's on the swing, he yells "Mama!! Ween! Hiyah!!" It's so stinkin cute!!

I have to apologize for these pictures, they're really horrible and I am going to try in the morning to get a better shot, but until then...(Update: I got better pics! lol)

All the papers are from Echo Park's Note to Self collection, and the alpha stickers are basic grey except the teeny top ones, and I can't remember where they're from.

I used this great sketch from Sketch Savvy:

So link up your rolled paper creations for a chance to win some BoBunny goodness from Scrappy Stuff Supplies!!

Punky Scraps - Techno Boys

Well hello bloggers! I hope you had a great weekend! I spent my weekend scrappin away for 24 hours at my friend Cheri's weekend crop! It was an 80's slumber party theme, complete with stress pencils (remember the troll dolls?), Cindy Lauper and some serious neon!! It was so much fun!

I wanted to show you a quick  layout I made (actually before I went scrappin this weekend). I used this  sketch from  Punky Scraps. I love all the white space in it :)

And here's my layout:

When I came into the living room and saw these two little cuties, I just had to take a picture! One of them on the computer and the other on the phone...they're definitely turning into My Techno Boys!

Thanks for stopping by!! Stay tuned for my layouts that I got done this weekend!

Graphicat Sketch 6

Good afternoon all you crazy crafty peeps! It's time for another fab sketch from Graphicat Sketches! This went live yesterday, and I'm not entirely sure why I can't seem to get a single one of these cards done on time, but it just seems to happen that way...I think a puking kid is a pretty good excuse though!

Here's my take on the sketch: I used the very fun Cheshire Cat from Kraftin Kimmie and paired it with one of my favourite sentiments from Graphicat Designs, from the Tea Set.

All papers are from Graphic 45 and the flourishes are cut from a Tim Holtz die with grungeboard, painted black then stickled. I cut the shapes behind the cat with quickutz and spellbinders dies with my vagabond, and the "stamp" die cuts are cut with my Cameo. The ribbon is from my stash and I dirtied it up with some black soot Distress Ink (it was way too bright white before)

So get sketchy and link it up here for a chance to win this gorgeous 6x6 paper pack from BoBunny!!

Happy Crafting!!

I'm entering this card into the following challenges: Whoopsie Daisy Challenges: Anything Goes
Art With No Boundaries: Anything Goes

Darth Baby

Good morning! It's a beautiful day here in "The Puddle" (for those of you not from Williams Lake, that's a little nickname for our town), unfortunately, Ethan has the stomach flu...poor guy woke up at 5am throwing up! He seems to be better now...I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I've seen the end of barf for today! lol
Anyway, I wanted to show you this layout I did for CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration case file #15

Now these colours where very tricky for me, because I didn't want to do a Halloween layout, but that's totally what these colours remind me of. I found it a challenge to use them and have it NOT look Halloweenie (is that even a word? well, it is now! lol)

I used last week's sketch from Frosted Designs: (but I'm posting it too late to get in on the challenge! )

Now when I started this layout, I wasn't sure I was going to like how it turned out, but now that it's finished, I think it's one of my favs! I am so happy with the way it turned out!

Now for the Case File: For the evidence I used a transparent element, stacking layers, something metal and zigzags.

I used Tim Holtz gadget gears and the tiny attacher for my metal elements. I just love this picture of Caleb wearing his cousins Darth Vadar costume! It was so funny because it's got the voice thingy on it too!
Now, since I don't have a fancy I Phone with an instagram app, I decided to make my own instagram picture by rubbing the edges of the picture roughly with black archival ink. I like the way it looks kinda vintage :)

I used a chevron DP from Echo Park (this and that)

My transparent element is the Tim Holtz phrase stamp that I stamped the packaging from the washi tape I used. I stamped it with black archival ink. It's a litlte hard to see in the picture but the stamp says: "the world of reality has its limits; but the world of imagination is boundless" I thought it was a perfect phrase for this picture!

For the testimony, I documented an adventure. The journaling reads: "Not long ago, in a galaxy far away, there lived a being who's sole purpose was to play. That and bug the tar out of his brothers. He travelled the front yard in search of worms, only stopping momentarily to take Kieran's bike...And they call him  Darth Baby"

I'm also entering this layout into the challenge over at The Studio Challenges: they want you to use 3 of the following: Kraft, Washi Tape, Twine, a Star, Ink, or Die Cuts. I used Die cuts, ink and washi tape :)
And the October Afternoon blog wants us to use letter stickers.

Well there you have it! I hope you were inspired!!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!!  I really do appreciate it!

Stay tuned tomorrow for another awesome Graphicat Sketch!!

Fabulous Friday Challenge

Hello Bloggers! It's Fabulous Friday again at Frosted Designs!!  This week we want to see your weather inspired cards, layouts or off the page projects!

I found this on Pinterest (feel free to follow me!) and I just loved the quote and I thought it would make a nice canvas, so that's what I decided to make!

This was my first time making a mixed media canvas, but it was super fun and I really liked getting messy with the Gesso and paints!

I can't seem to get a decent picture these days...not really sure why, but I do apologize :)
I used glossy accents over the word "Sunshine" to make it...well, for lack of a better word...shine...lol

I just love this butterfly die from Sizzix. It cuts out 5 different butterflies, and embosses them at the same time!! I have a HUGE butterfly addiction, so I just had to have it of course! lol

All the letters were cut with my Cameo, and then I framed the canvas with Tissue tape, then I layered it with more tissue tape that I swiped with some distress stains.

So there you go! Now it's your turn! Link it up Here for a chance to win some yummy goodies from Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits

Have a crafty weekend!

Life is Good :)

So last night I finished watching day 6 of Tim Holtz's  Creative Chemistry 101 (I know I'm a little behind...I started the class the day it started, but my time is very limited...but that's the beauty of this class...you can STILL sign up for it even though it's over and have lifetime access to the videos and downloads! If you haven't yet and are a fan of Distress and Tim Holtz and his fabulous techniques, I suggest you get yer butt over there and take the class!! You won't regret it!) Geeesh! You'd think I'm getting paid to plug Tim's class, but I promise you I am not ;) I just really love it! Sooooo...as I was saying, I finished watching day 6 and it was on Distress Markers (which are totally on my wishlist- hubs if you ever read my blog, now would be the time! lol), but it inspired me to do a little colouring with my Distress Inks and a water brush. It was soooo quick and easy and I just love the way it turned out! I really like the water colour look...as a perfectionist I found it a little difficult to go outside the lines and be ok with it, but that's the beauty of watercolour...it's not perfect and that's OK!! lol

I finally inked up this awesome stamp from Hero Arts that I bought quite a long time ago when it first came out...I do love this stamp!

I paired her with a sentiment from CTMH, cut out with one of Tim's banner dies and I also used his film strip die in the background. I stamped a fun Tim flourish in the background of his Kraft resist paper that I covered with Distress Stains and Inks...hmmmm...I'm seeing a little bit of a pattern here are you?! I think I'm a little obsessed...to put it mildly! hehe  Pretty much the only things on this card that aren't from good old "Lord Tim of Holtz" are the flowers (altered prima: I was excited to use these flowers that are a hundred years old from my stash...I just cut them down and scrunched em up a bit because they were way too big for my card)
and a couple of the stamps!

I used this sketch from Card Patterns for my card:

I'm also entering this card into these challenges:

Simon Says Stamp: Favourite tool: Vagabond!!!
Lawnscaping: Colouring
Just Keep on Creating: Anything Goes
A Cherry on Top: Do it with Flowers

Creative Accents Challenge: Sprays and Stains

It's time for another challenge over at Creative Accents! This is one that is definitely NOT a challenge for me as I'm a little addicted to "Sprays and Stains". It's easy! Just create a layout, card, or off the page project and submit it over here for a chance to win some goodies!

This is my layout that I created for the challenge:
The layout was also inspired by CSI: Color Stories Inspiration, case file #13:

These are totally not typical colors for me, but I LOVE the combination and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out...I just wish I could get a better picture of it! I must have taken 15 pictures and edited a whole whack of em too, but this was the best I could get! Some colors are just harder to photograph for an amateur like me! lol
(ok, I kind of figured it out: if you click on the picture to enlarge it, it looks waaay clearer)

As for the "evidence", I used twine and thread, map print and a pinwheel.

My  journaling reads: I was trying to get a photo of all 3 of us in Hell's Gate where we were all looking at the camera. Ethan was playing around, and Caleb was looking off into space. But no matter what, life you two is a "Sheer Delight"

I'm going to try to get some better pics of this layout in the morning. I really love this layout, but I'm not loving the pictures of it at all which is really frustrating me!! lol

I used this sketch from Boys Rule:

I must say, I'm kinda lovin their sketches :)

Well, don't forget to join us and get inky along the way! Break out those sprays and stains! Mist, mask, stamp or do whatever you can think of with those wonderful bottles full of color and join us this month at Creative Accents Challenges!

I'm also entering this into the challenge over at Simon Says Stamp: Use your favourite tool: mine of course is my Vagabond *sigh* I'm a little bit of a die cutting addict!!

Happy Easter everyone!!

Graphicat Sketch #5

Hiya Bloggers! I hope you're all having a fabulous day?! It's storming like crazy here (just wind, but crazy wind!) I kinda like it though! It makes me feel like getting cozy with a blanky and a cuppa coffee and reading a book....Yeah Right!! Like I ever have time for that!! LOL!!

Anyway, I am ever so late again for Cheri's fab sketch challenge over at Graphicat Sketches, but I stayed up until 1 am last night finishing this card up (I totally didn't have to, but I can't leave a card unfinished no matter how late it is!)

Here's the sketch that you can play along with for the next two weeks:

Another fab sketch from Cheri as always!

And here's what I did with it:

I made this for no one in particular, but it's always nice to have some birthday cards on hand :) I the sentiments are from Graphicat Designs from the Awesome Kids Set. It has so many great sentiments that work not just for kids, but they are great for kid cards, or layouts. The image is a Simply Betty stamp, Cupcake Lola, and if she wasn't sold out right now you could get her at Graphicat Designs too. But she does have other fabulous Simply Betty Stamps there too!

I coloured her with my copics, and I have to admit that I basically hucked the colour on her! I did this so quick, I don't think I've ever coloured an image in an hour! But I'm pretty happy with how she turned out for being done so quickly! I put a little bit of distress stickles on the cherry on the cupcake and some spica in her hair and the frosting and voila! She's done!

There you have it! Go get sketchy and play along with us!!
